Every list on this site is an editorial judgement — here’s exactly how those judgements get made, what they’re based on, and where the limits are.
Four questions decide every ranking.
We pick the ten plugin categories every WooCommerce store ends up needing, then rank the eight standout plugins in each by asking the same four questions.
- 1. Adoption & reputation — install bases, review histories and how often the plugin shows up in real store stacks. We don’t have (and don’t claim) a live data feed.
- 2. Maintenance — active development, changelog cadence and timely compatibility with current WooCommerce releases.
- 3. Fit for Woo — does it understand stores (orders, carts, checkout exclusions), or is it a generic WordPress tool wearing a Woo costume?
- 4. Value honesty — what the free version really does, and whether the paid tier earns its renewal.
Independence and limits.
Nobody pays to be here
No plugin has paid for a placement, a position or a kind word. There are no affiliate links anywhere, and we have no commercial relationship with any listed vendor.
A snapshot, not a feed
Lists are reviewed roughly twice a year (last: June 2026). Pricing models, features and ownership change between reviews — the plugin’s own page is always the source of truth.

Opinion, clearly labelled
“Best” is our editorial view, not a measurement. If you’d order a list differently, you’re probably not wrong — and if we’ve got a fact wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it.
Test before you trust
No list replaces your own staging test. Check compatibility with your WooCommerce and PHP versions, install on staging first, and keep real-time backups before changing payment or checkout plugins.
Corrections move fast
Wrong developer, changed pricing model, abandoned plugin, a security incident we should know about — report it and it’s fixed in the next update, usually sooner.
